I am a sociologist who writes on issues related to organized labor, social movements, and comparative social policy. My research has been published in Social Forces, Social Politics, Social Policy & Administration, and Work, Employment & Society, among other outlets. In 2025, I will be forming a research team to study relationships between organized labor and care leave (social policies granting time-off from work to provide care). This ambitious project is supported by a 2024 Starting Grant from the European Research Council (MakingTime - 101161438).
In 2016, I earned my Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and I have previously held positions at Uppsala University's Department of Government and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. Funding for my previous and ongoing research has been awarded by the European Commission's Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (742339-ERA), Forte: Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (2019-00337), and the Swedish Research Council (2023-01349, and with PI, Katrin Uba, 2019-02918).
One of my papers was recently named a finalist for the prestigious Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Excellence in Work-Family Research. Though my paper did not win, it was one of six papers selected out of over 2,500 articles published in 2023. The Work & Family Researchers Network hosted a virtual seminar featuring the finalists. You can watch that here.
